Matford and Powderham

What a strange December morning; no gloves, midges in the air and great tits singing. At Matford pools the cackling goose was with a few mallard and wigeon. Whilst I was counting the ducks a pair of goldcrest were displaying. Also at least 4 chiffchaff including one that sang briefly.

Earlier at Powderham marshes there were lots of wigeon (715), Canada geese (625) and 2 barnacle geese (probably including the usual bird).
