South Brent

Another overcast and murky day at South Brent but it was worth making the effort to get out and about, initially at home a female Sparrow Hawk, Jay, Long Tailed Tits 5, Great Tits 5, Coal Tit 2, Goldcrest 5, Wren, Siskin, Pied Wagtails, 16 Redwing, small passing flock of Fieldfare, a counted 36 Herring Gulls passing over, the day ended with a trio of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers in the garden.

On the River Avon at Brent Mill a male Goosander and a Pied Wagtail on Avondale House.

Around a private lake just outside the village gave Buzzard, 20 Redwing, a flock of 30 plus Goldfinch with them were 5 Siskin and 1 Blue Tit, Coal Tit,  2 Mallard, a counted 34 Wigeon on the lake but when they lifted a count of approximately 75 birds, 1 Mute Swan, 1 Moorhen, 1 Coot (the first I can recall seeing in the parish in the 30 years that I have lived here) Carrion Crow, Jay, 8 Goldcrest, Blackbird, Wren, Robin Green Woodpecker heard calling.

Ladies Wood, initially very quiet but eventually 2 Nuthatch, Robin, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Coal Tit, a single Chiffchaff and 10 plus Goldcrest, Herring Gulls and Carrion Crows overhead.
