South Huish Marsh

Daurian Shrike (Lanius isabellinus) showing and feeding well by White House.  Please keep to the lane to view.  We saw some birders climbing the hedges to see the bird late this afternoon as they said it hadn't shown on the telegraph wires for 1 hour.  This a) was breaking down the hedge and b) was disturbing the cattle in the field.    Short-eared Owl flew over the field holding the Shrike at approx 10.45.  On the marsh, in addition to the Teal and Mallard, 42 Widgeon flew in from the sea, Pied Wagtail, 1 Wheatear, 4 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Little Egret, Moorhen and usual gulls and corvids. Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel hunting in area.
