Velator reserve

The autumn influx of Finches has begun, and today, aided and abetted by lots of black sunflower seeds in the feeders, we ringed 52! Other birds ringed of note were Great-spotted Woodpecker, Kingfisher and Sparrowhawk (all females).

As we left the reserve, in the juncus were about 40 Meadow Pipits. If only the cattle were to stay in the field, perhaps they'd stay, but once the cows go, the dogs will arrive and soon flush all the local birds....
