Soar

08:10-17:15 ; Malborough- Furzedown / East Soar / Starehole / Warren / Higher Soar - Malborough.

Some clear breaks in the night. Grey, murky day. Fresh east wind becoming fresh-strong ENE by mid-afternoon.

11 Golden Plover, 35 Lapwing ( ploughed field behind mid-Soar House ), Green Sandpiper ( calling near car park, first heard on 5th Oct. but to my knowledge nobody has actually seen it yet ), Black Redstart ( Coastguard Cottages ), 41 Song Thrush, 71 Blackbird, 8 Ring Ouzel ( 7 Starehole in the steep north-east most sheltered part of the valley and 1 Higher Soar ), 12 Redwing, Blackcap, 3 Chiffchaff, 15 Goldcrest and around 800 scattered grounded Starlings.

Had to be a good bird somewhere but the whole area was pretty much blown out.
