Exminster Marshes

I participated in a breeding bird survey this morning on the central marsh. Good numbers of sedge and reed warblers singing on the perimeter of the reserve. There was a small group of passage waders on the central scrapes including one whimbrel, 3 snipe, 6 dunlin, 2 ringed plover and one little ringed plover.

As the tide rose about 30 shelduck flew in to roost. Otherwise duck numbers low but 2 pintail were a surprise.
