Exminster Marshes

A visit from North Devon, initially to try to see the Banaparte's Gull which luckilly flew by shortly after arriving. After a brief stop overlooking the estuary between Dawlish Warren and Cockwood we decided to go to Exminster Marshes. Fairly quiet apart from the Whooper Swan, but looking towards Red Lion Yard from the towpath it was a surprise to see a Great White Egret. It relocated back further towards the railway line, but despite breeding this year in our neighbouring county it is still a very scarce bird for Devon.
