Lundy news 14th to 16th April

Highlights included large falls of Willow Warblers, Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps (200 Blackcaps on 16th), along with the year's first Whimbrels and Whitethroats, a scattering of Common and Black Redstarts, Pied Flycatchers, Sedge & Grasshopper Warblers, White Wagtails and, on 15th, a significant movement of hirundines, plus an early Swift. A Hoopoe on 15th led the rarity stakes, along with the regular Black Guillemot (seen daily), while island scarcities included single Shelduck, Redshank, Black-headed Gull, Sandwich Tern, Rook and Bullfinch.
