English Channel 30nm SE of Berry Head

From an angling boat 30nm out where clear, although from Dartmouth to 25nm out was foggy. Attending boat were: c150 large gulls (mainly Lesser and Great Black-backs), Common Gull, 2 Black-headed Gulls (long way out for them!), 8 Kittiwakes, 2 Fulmars, 12 Bonxies. There was constant passage of common migrants which included: Blackbirds, Starlings, Robin, Chaffinchs, Chiffchaff and Goldcrests (two of which landed on the boat, one even coming into the cabin). The perils of making this crossing in daylight were highlighted, as both gulls and Bonxies were seen chasing and catching (and gobbling down) some weak unid'd passerines which were flying close to the sea!

Highlight for me today was four Risso's Dolphins feeding in the same area, although wary of the boat so keeping a distance and occasionally spectaculary breaching.
