Soar
08:10-17:30. Malborough - Furzedown / East Soar / Starehole and back.
Cloudy, grey day. L NE wind and very light drizzle early morning both decreasing through day.
Adding to Rob's post, heard the Green Sandpiper near the car park, Golden Plover, 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 130 Redwings ( mostly around top of Starehole sheep track ), 40 Song Thrush,( also 30 Malborough to Furzedown ) 2 Ring Ouzels ( Starehole - different to Robs ), 8 Chiffchaffs, only 1 Jay, 2 Siskins and a Reed Bunting.
Highlight was 2 Hawfinches gorging on Haws in the East Soar Willows from around 15:00-15:30. Thought only one bird present but when it flew out it was joined by a second bird and they flew off high east over the farm.Additionally Eric Wotton saw presumably yesterdays Yellow-browed Warbler in the willows.
