River Plym

The rain finally abated and so I headed off to the yellow browed warbler spot near Blagdons Meadow after it was reported as present yesterday - and as per usual for me there was no sight or sound of it.

A muddy walk in Saltram Park was much more interesting with a female sparrowhawk, a male kestrel, a jay, 2 mistle thrush, around 30 redwings and 2 displaying stock doves the highlights. Best bird was a firecrest feeding in a loose flock of blue, great, coal and long tailed tits in the woodland by the River Plym footpath - brief and frustrating views initially as it fed amongst the holly bushes and ivy clad trees but eventually showing well in a bare tree.

Another look for the yellow browed warbler on the way back home and still no sign of it but a kingfisher on the rocks near Blagdons Boatyard was a bonus.
