South Brent "in the garden"

A good early start on the garden feeders this morning but by 9.30am the flow of birds had dropped off to a trickle at best, the feeders and garden have been buzzing with birds for the last few days so I was a little surprised, then after midday the bird numbers around the feeders went through the roof. A Green Woodpecker seen to drop into a rough cover strip that I maintain and fed along its length, Greenfinch numbers jumped to a counted 14 rather than the usual 5 or 6. Goldfinch which have only started coming into the feeders this year were beyond counting, 9 at one point and beyond that unable to keep up with the numbers, a male Siskin came in with them and was a first for this winter. 3 Jays, over flight by two Raven, 2 Stock Doves also overhead, several visits from a Greater Spotted Woodpecker, large numbers of Blue Tit (a count of 52 yesterday) Chaffinch and House Sparrow, single Song and Mistle Thrush, Robin and Dunnock numbers on the increase both species singing well.
