Higher to East Soar

Walking across an oilseed rape field by Southdown Farm a female type Great Bustard took to the air and flew over my head towards East Soar; no sign of any wing tags but presumably a Salisbury Plain bird!!! What an amazing start to the day - like being back in Extremadura!!

Also: 8 Buzzards soaring over the airfield with 5 drifting south-east over Bolt Head - maybe a local movement, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls on cliffs, 42 Stock Doves moving west, 155 Skylarks on stubbles, 13 Rock Pipits on seaweed in Soar Mill Cove, 200 Starlings, 100 Crows, 9 Ravens, 60 Linnets and 15 Cirl Buntings. Still butterflies on the wing - one Red Admiral & a "helice" Clouded Yellow, both on Bolt Head. What a morning!
