Exminster Marshes

Lots of water and birds, over 100 lapwing moving between pools disturbed (I think) by a raptor high overhead that just might have been a goshawk. One golden plover seen briefly, 80+ wigeon and 50+ teal on the pool closest to the canal to the south of the lane. On the opposite side of the lane the only bird on the small pool was a grey phalarope. It was still present at 2.30pm.

The new cycle path is open between Powderdham and Turf and so I enjoyed a walk along the path on top of the sea wall. Its the first time in years I have not had to contend with masses of cyclists. Also the view from the bridge is pretty good. Only bird of note was a little grebe at Turf. Distant views of black-tailed godwit (100) and avocet (40).
