Wood pigeon migration ~ South Brent

The autumn Wood pigeon migration picked up a little over South Brent with todays first clear day in some time between sunrise and 8am a count of in excess of 1000 Wood pigeons all headed west, the flocks were small compared with this time last year on average 100 to 150 birds the largest holding about 200 birds.

The flocks were flying much higher than the birds seen recently flying in the misty weather conditions.

One mixed flock of Woodpigeon and Redwing approx 60 pigeons and 30/40 Redwings and a seperate flock of some 60 Redwings.

Also a flock of a counted 27 Stock Doves which were skirting the edge of the moors.

Small numbers of both Goldfinch and Meadow Pipit seen in the same period.
