Upottery Airfield, Smeatharpe

Very poor conditions of fog and rain made conditions difficult. However 20 Golden Plover where swirling around the airfield and disappearing into the mist this afternoon and 3 were settled on the runway this morning. Wheatear also present along with Snipe, 2 Stonechat and Green Woodpecker. Meadow Pipits diffcult to count as they were continually being flushed from both runways and fields and 70+ is probably a conservative estimate.

On Monday (29th October)a similar if lighter passage of Woodpigeons and Stock Doves as noted elsewhere along with a stronger passage of Starlings (the Woodpigeon passage lasted throughout the day over home but this is 0.5 miles over the border in Somerset). Wheatear and 5 Stonechats present.
