Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust Cuts

Apologies if already aware but I have just recieved this which may be of interest and concern to our members

Torbay Council are proposing to cut funding to Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust who manage much of our local woodland and coastline including Berryhead, The Grove, Occombe Farm, Cockington, The Seashore Centre, Brunel Woods, Daddyhole, Hope's Nose, Wall's Hill, parts of Maidencombe and The John Musgrave Trail. Without this funding they will have to turn much of their duties back over to the council - the council can in no way afford to maintain these sites to the standard we have become accustomed for the same money that they give to TCCT. The reason TCCT can function at such low income from the council is due to their army of volunteers. So if the council cut funding and TCCT hand the land back we can expect a enormous drop in the quality of our outdoor spaces in Torbay. If you are a member of TCCT,  you may have already written to the council about this or signed the e petition. If not, please do and you need to do it by tomorrow:

This is the link to the e petition

You do have to first register on the council web site before you can sign it (a brief form - an annoyance I know but it is brief). There are also paper versions at Occombe Farm & Cafe, Berryhead Visitor Centre and Cafe and at Cockington.
