Burrator Reservoir

A quick walk around the reservoir in the sunshine today provided some good sightings, most notably a pair of mandarin duck, 8 redhead goosander and a kingfisher which looked resplendent in the bright light as it flew over the water.

Also seen were 2 grey wagtail, around 4 little grebes, around 8 cormorant, a muscovy duck, 2 white feral geese and a late juvenile swallow. A few red admiral and speckled wood were also flitting about along with a common darter.

The water level is surprisigly low and gives a totally different perspective to the area. Also lots of tree felling going on changing the scenery drastically too. Interesting visitor centre was open too.
