Prawle Point

From 7.20am PM, JL and myself watched in WSW force 7 going SW 4-5. Fewer rain showers than predicted . I left at 3.10pm (for the movies-Pride, excellent film ) and Pat stayed till 6.45pm.

Steady passage of Gannets , at first east and then west (mainly) . Highlights :

1 Sooty at 2.50pm west ; 206 Balearic Shearwaters ( I saw 140 ) west –a site record : plumage ranged from dark to very pale types ; 7 Manxies . 3 Pomarine and 3 Arctic Skuas (all west adult pale phase) . 169 auks west (till 3.10 pm)

Also 2 Fulmars, 4 Kittiwakes and 1 adult Med Gull west. Oddity value was the Common Snipe which flew in off sea .

Also at least 1 Harbour Porpoise and at least 3 other cetaceans with tall dorsal fins lost to the waves and swell
