Budleigh Salterton

A wild and at times difficult seawatch from 8.00 to 11.15 a.m. With the exception of Shags and Cormorants (see below), very little moving as witnessed by not seeing the first Gannet until 9.15! However lack of quantity made up by quality - Leach's Petrel west at 8.35, adult Little Gull east at 8.05, 2 juv Pomarine Skuas at 9.20 and 9.42 and an Arctic Skua along the beach at 10.40.

Supporting cast of 8 Brent Geese west, 24 Common Scoter (one group of 10 had 4 small paler ducks with them, assumed to be Teal), Kittiwake 5 (all juvs).

Shags and Cormorants were continually heading west throughout the morning with estimates of over 100 of the former and 40 of the latter.
