Torbay

Following a call from BMc watching 'hundreds of terns towards Paignton' from Brixham I checked out the Torbay beaches from Roundham Head; there were a minimum of 300 Common Tern including two large flocks sat on the sea of 80+ birds in each flock. Some of the birds were not particularly close (nearly all looking like Common Terns) but I did pick out 3 juv Arctic terns, 15 plus Sandwich Terns, 1 1cy Mediterranean Gull and a 1st sum Black-throated Diver sat just off Paignton Pier (in heavy wing moult - seemingly most of it's primaries moulted so it won't be going far!)
