Exminster Marshes

A walk around the southern part this evening coincided with high water. Over 80 shelduck roosting with 4 gadwall, 2 tufted duck and numerous mallard with at least 6 broods of ducklings. No sign of the pair of garganey present this morning at 8.30. A small flock of noisy whimbrel (21) flew onto the estuary and then returned to settle in the centre of the marsh. Elsewhere there were one wheatear, a single swift and a hobby all to the north of Station Road.
