Sherpa Marsh - rain almost stopped play

With no news of the pratincole decided as it was sunny a quick visit after work to Sherpa to see if the garganey was still present was needed. On arrival the clouds were heavy and rain was starting so leaving the camera alone walked quickly to the shelter of the barn. When the rain eased I walked on to the main pond to hear and see the many reed warblers, sand martins with a few swallows but no house martins. Two male "flavissima" wagtails were present and all the ducks seemed to be mallards. A walk to the far side and the rain bucketing down gave me views of a drake garganey. Glad I went now.

P.S. Meant to post tree pipit displaying at entrance to Yarner Woods on Friday (see JC's photo on gallery).
