Beer Head

Another great morning up Beer Head today. Bushes seemed quiet, but my mist nets proved otherwise with 35 Willow Warblers, 3 Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps and 2 Redstarts (fems) trapped and ringed.

A third fem Redstart was seen by my Dad, and I heard singles of Grasshopper Warbler, Ringed Plover and Dunlin (the later two fly overs) whilst ringing. Also a pretty heavy passage of (mostly) Swallows got going from mid morning.  

Like other migration sites in the UK, many of the Willow Warblers passing through now are cold-toned more northerly breeding birds...
