Yarner Wood

Mid morning visit to Yarner, started with a pair of Grey Wagtails showing well in front of the cottages as you arrive at Yarner. Hen Sparrow Hawk soaring high above the car park, drake Mandarin on the pond, Nuthatch using the lower pond feeders, a walk round the woodland above the car park revealed Blue and Great Tits in large numbers, one Coal Tit, Long tailed Tit, Wren, pair of Bullfinch. Raven calling.

Greater Spotted Woodpecker(s) heard drumming and calling.

Highlight thanks to a visiting birder who sent us in the right direction was a male Pied Flycatcher that was showing well and singing in a very defined area to which it kept returning, second bird could be heard calling but only one bird on view at any one time.

Feeders have been taken down from the top hide but are still in use at the pond hide.
