Exminster marsh & bowling green marsh

Exminster marsh 14:40 till 17:50

a look along the path from the rspb car park by the railway line got me good views of the lesser whitethroat also 2 blackcap, willow warbler and a reed bunting with a few swallows moving through. Then a walk up station road produced an increase in swallow and sand martins and a few chiffchaffs and 2 blackcaps then from the middle car park caught a glimpse of a tern over the lagoon a quick look with bins then scope producing a cracking black tern , it stayed over the lagoon for some time before flying out onto the estuary it finally returned to the lagoon and was still present 17:50 as we left .

Bowling green marsh from the hide 18:00 till 19:45

15+ whimbrel came in with 5 going north, the 2 near full summer plumage spotted redshanks showed well, 24 greenshanks, 22+ bar tailed godwits, 200+ black tailed godwits, 150+ curlew, 11+ dunlin, 8 little egrets, 2 reed warblers, 2 blackcap, 1 willow warbler, 2 reed buntings, still a few wigeon, 2 stock doves , just before I left a large group of sand martins(400+) , swallows(200+) and house martins (20+) dropped down over the marsh what a good way to end the day.
