South Efford Marsh, Aveton Gifford 1st April 2014

Mid morning visit to South Efford Marsh just after high tide yesterday, a noticable absence of many of the usual and expected small bird species, that side of the day was saved by initially two pairs of Linnet severalmore being seen during the visit. Little Egrets, Mute Swans and Shell Duck very aerial and the Shellducks bickering and displaying. 3 Greenshank together on the dropping tide, Common Sandpiper, 2 Buzzards, 1 male Kestrel, 1 Redshank several small flocks of Greater Black Backed Gulls flew past the hide. On the way home a flight of 4 Cormorant seen near California Cross.

And todays high light my first Swallow of the season passing the house at South Brent.
