South Efford Marsh, Aveton Gifford

A very productive mid morning visit to South Huish Marsh with Keith Male, Keith spotted the Glossy Ibis almost immeadiatly just inside the entrance to the marsh on the pasture field just inside the main gate, a total of 34 species identified including a brief view of a Water Rail, female Stonechats, Common Sandpipers, Greenshank, a mature male Blackbird with a very dark brown beak, a count of 24 Curlew, Grey Wagtail, almost constant Chiffchaff movement most counted at one time being seven, large numbers of Mute Swan present good numbers of which were constantly taking to the air and coming back onto the river. The new hide is of very high standard and will be a real bonus to the site.
