Aveton Gifford and River Plym

Glossy Ibis showing well on South Efford Marsh this morning. No sign of any water pipits on the Marsh but 1 green sandpiper, 1 kingfisher, 3+chiffchaffs,3 snipe and a pair of bullfinch seen. Along the River Avon were a common sandpiper,a little grebe and a grey wagtail.

On the way home stopped off at the River Plym and walked from Laira Bridge to Blaxton Meadow. Had a look for the oft reported Jack snipe in suitable habitat in Saltram Park but as usual with no luck. Hoped to find a treecreeper too but drew a blank. Lots of goldcrest around and a very nice firecrest in holly bushes by the footpath along the River in Saltram Park. 3 greenshank came in to Blaxton Meadow to roost at high tide and 9 wigeon were sleeping on the river off the Meadow embankment.
