South Brent

The really good turn out for the Brent Birders intro last evening gave me the incentive to have a deeper look at my home ground today, first highlight was flushing two very small birds from a thicket only able to follow one which confirmed my belief that there were both Chiffchaffs I have never seen them here in the winter months before, followed by 5 meadow Pipits which showed well, 7 Bullfinch (six males and one hen) which I saw again later in the day, Nuthatch and Greater Spotted Woodpecker showing well,  Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush and Redwings showing, another highlight was finding a small foraging mix of Blue Tits and Gold Crests (at least 3). Raven and Buzzard (3) showing well.

At 2.30pm did a count of 118 Herring Gull passing over head across the village away from the moors towards Totnes in general

Obvious pairs of Great Tit, Blackbird, Nuthatch, Song Thrush, Robin (several singing from high spots) and Raven.
