Brents at Starcross yesterday

The highlight of yesterday mornings WeBS count between Stacross and Dawlish Warren golf course was the Black Brant with 452 Brents on Starcross gold course. The Brents have had a successful breeding season this year: 51 out of 366 (14%) were juveniles. A Bar-headed Goose was also there, and 'my' estuary section held 2 Little Grebes, 1 Great Crested and 'the' Slavonian, 19 Shags, 10 Little Egrets, only 403 Wigeon, 58 Teal and 2 Merganser, a Water Rail, 21 Ringed Plover (roosting on the railway embankment outside Cockwood Harbour), 6 Greenshank and 6 Rock Pipits.
