Otter Estuary

White Bridge to Otter Head, 10:30 - 12:30.

Not a great deal to be seen by way of migrants. Only bird of note was a damp and forlorn-looking turtle dove sitting motionless in the last ploughed field near the headland. Unbelievably, my first one this year!

In the same field, a mobile flock of 2-300 skylarks, meadow pipits, linnets, and alba wagtails. This and the adjacent ploughed fields are looking seriously good for small brown jobs.

Elsewhere, half a dozen chiffchaffs along the pine belt. Cetti's warbler singing, as usual. Sadly, my first hirundine-free outing since March. Hello Winter.
