Exminster Marshes

A mid-morning visit after high tide so most birds were back on the estuary. On the pool nearest to the canal side car park the number of lapwing had double since my last visit - now 12 plus the single black-tailed godwit. also in those fields 5 wheatears. On the lagoon about 300 duck, mostly teal but also c40 wigeon, c10 mallard, c10 shoveller and at least one gadwall. Most of the ducks were roosting tucked into the banks.

In the lane at least 3 chiffchaffs including one that sang continuously, one blackcap and 2 Cettis. Butterflies included 1 painted lady, small copper, red admiral and comma (yesterday 1 clouded yellow near Topsham).
