Exmouth

Orcombe Point - 1645 - a lightening post-work dash around the top fields was well worthwhile producing a gorgeous jack snipe - my first of the autumn. Also 2 wheatear, 1 curlew, just 1 chiffchaff, c1/200+ meadow pipit and c20+ skylark.

Yesterday a longer spell mid-afternoon produced 21+ chiffchaff, c50+ starling, 2+ grey wagtail, 3 alba wagtail, 6 wheatear, 1 juv whinchat, 1 whitethroat, 2 yellow wagtail, 2 blackcap, 1 curlew, my first great spotted woodpecker of the autumn and, oddly, 2 sandwich terns high over the top fields. Also of note my 9th and 10th vestals of the autumn - it has been an amazing spell for these immigrant moths. I've also had several rush veneers and stacks of silver Y. Additionally, off Mudbank yesterday a female or juv garganey with 1 mediterranean gull, 4 grey plover and c50+ teal amongst c1000+ wigeon.

vestal - the rarer pink form. The 9 others have all been yellow.
