Exminster Marshes

A gloomy afternoon visit. 3 wheatear and c10 meadow pipits were in the field next to the railway bridge to the north of the road. On the pool near the canal - 6 lapwing, 1 black-tailed godwit and a few teal. There were c200 black-headed gulls roosting on or near the lagoon, also there 5 little grebes, c10 shoveller, teal and wigeon. Over head a flock of 10 shelduck kept appearing. A few swallows flew east (c20) and a hobby was catching dragonflies near the railway. A juv sparrow hawk had repeated efforts to catch something but failed.
