Re: Glossy Ibis sightings

I recently returned from a week in Southern Spain, where I spent half a day at La Janda - an agricultural area with lots of wet rice fields. The most abundant bird species there was Glossy Ibis - we reckoned about 2000! These were all from the huge colony (4000 pairs!) by the Antono Valverde Centre in the Coto Donana, (about 75 miles north) and were starting their migration south. Presumably the birds now turning up on the south coast are also from this colony and have headed off in the opposite direction. Let's hope for a few more!
