Braunton Burrows/Crow Point

Tim Davis and I did the WeBS section of the Taw/Torridge Estuary immediately downstream of Rob Jutsum and saw his two Marsh Harriers fly from Horsey Island and go down in scrub towards Sandy Lane car park. We saw one of them again briefly as we walked back towards Sandy Lane around 09.30. Superb morning for visible (and audible) migration, with strong Swallow passage, a few House Martins and Pied Wagtails, Skylarks calling high overhead (largest flock 16) and a constant light movement of Meadow Pipits. Also a 1st-yr Hobby, a single calling Yellow Wagtail heading South, a couple of Grey Wags, two Sandwich Terns, 7 Med Gulls and, between Crow Point and Airy Point, about 1,000 Oystercatchers.
