Turf, Exe estuary

My WeBS count was disturbed twice by an osprey flying over and putting up all the birds, it finally at about 14.40 flew west towards Halden Hill. I saw another osprey further down the estuary.

Possibly because of the osprey wader numbers were low with a count of 498 curlew, 160 black-tailed godwits and a small flock of ringed plovers (c15). One of the black-tails was colour ringed. I will investigate.

Elsewhere one wheatear on the sea wall and hundreds of swallows and house martins flying south between the squalls.
