stuartline birding Cruise 17th January 2022

Another cracking day with sunny skies and a light breeze showed of the birds and the estuary in all their glory. As usual plenty to see with DB Brent geese seen across the Estuary. Kingfishers again fishing in the shallows Black-necked Grebe still well established around the Starcross area. A few GC Grebe off Exton with plenty of Dunlin across the mudbanks towards Turf Locks. Good numbers of Avocet Black-Tailed Godwit a few Knot and Lapwing towards Topsham. Spotted Redshank still off Topsham. To top this cruise was the 4-500 Golden Plover which were airborne and in formation flew over the boat and landed on the mudbank opposite Turf Lock. On the way back to Exmouth the water was like glass with great reflections in the late afternoon sun... another great day on the "Pride of Exmouth".
