It may be of interest to know that the Black-necked Grebe first seen by Rick Lockwood on 1 Jan was only the third record for Dartmoor, the first since 1987, and the first for Fernworthy. Now that Ian Muir has reported a second bird present, the record has become even more unusual.

It also looks as though there are now three Goldeneye present on Dartmoor, at Fernworthy, Cholwichtown and Tungsten West - more than in other recent years.
