Braunton

Jay, Water Rail and Kingfisher in the reserve this morning, and the Kingfisher was briefly on the long perch I put in just for this species. However, a bit later I looked up and found this beast on the perch! He didn't dive in and after a good survey of the pond tip-toed off. Later, got news of 'Goose' so went out to the Marsh Road and found a Whooper Swan with mutes next to the road - must surely be last year's bird. I was joined by Andy Lansdell, who found 3 other Whoopers off towards the Burrows. He also then found the Russian White-fronted Goose in the field described by Rob. And still quite close to the road.

Looked quite happy out there!
