Velator reserve.

Arrived at about 08.30 for another ringing session. As I walked around opening nets I noticed a large flock of Godwits fly off the scrape. I kept looking to see if they had returned and there they were at about 12.45. After I had finished I walked up to count them. I made it 114. Most I've seen here. Saw a Kingfisher, heard 2 Cetti's Warblers, ringed 5 Chaffinch 2 Blue Tits, 3 Dunnocks, 2 Bullfinch, a Song Thrush a Robin a Great Tit and a male Blackcap. Sparrowhawk, Buzzard both nearby, a Water Rail called just outside, and still one Jay; Probably guilty of pecking holes in the Apples! Most interesting sighting was a Black-headed Gull flying low over the pond looking for something to eat. Never seen one do that before!
