Exminster Marshes

Visit at lunch time coincided with the high tide . However it was a neap tide and extensive areas of mud remained exposed in the estuary. There were c60 curlew roosting on the mud north of Turf. At Turf a kingfisher was in the entrance to the lock. On the marshes 2 marsh harriers repeatedly disturbed the ducks and a small group of waders that included ruff, ringed plover (2), dunlin and black-tailed godwit (5). A few swallows flew through, a single wheatear was on the fields and two jays in Station Road.
