Slapton

Red-necked grebe still present on Slapton Ley - Ireland bay. In breeding plumage now and rarely seen like this in the UK.  take a scope and this opportunity.  Other sightings included sandwich and common terns off the beach, a common sandpiper on the shore of the Ley and hundreds of swallows mixed with house and the occasional sand martin topped by at least a dozen swifts. At Beesands Ley the smart ring=necked duck is still present, pochard, tufted ducks (26) and gadwall.  13 Whimbrel past the beach.
