South Efford Marsh Tuesday 27 April

New arrivals at South Efford Marsh yesterday evening:  9 Greenshank, 5 Whimbrel, 4 Bar-tailed Godwits.  Also single pair of Teal and 20 Shelduck with mature males behaving agonistically towards the younger males.  Patterson's 'The Shelduck' has an interesting section on this behaviour.

Younger male Shelduck forced to crash headlong into shallow water.
