Ivybridge - Higher Piles Copse

A walk up the Erme valley and onto the moor above produced one Cuckoo, one Redstart and three Tree Pipits, but, surprisingly, no Wheatears. The regulars, Raven, Stonechat, Dipper, Grey Wagtail, Green Woodpecker etc. were obvious.

Back in Exeter, the Goosander was still in the Exwick flood channel, two brand-new broods of Mallard ducklings were on the river, and my first Swifts of the year were over the canal basin.
