Rillage Point to Watermouth

After a series of really quite wintery mornings on the exposed north coast, a distinct upturn in visible & audible migration this morning (c.06.30 to 09.00). Highlight was a reeling Grasshopper Warbler. A smattering of other grounded warblers included 3 Willow Warblers, 10 Chiffchaffs and 7 Blackcaps. Fair numbers of hirundines and finches heading west: 60 Swallows, 40 House Martins, 2 Sand Martins, 90 Linnets, 67 Goldfinches. Extremely quiet offshore, with just a trickle of Kittiwakes and auks, probably commuting between feeding grounds and breeding colonies along Exmoor coast.
