Redshank (not Spotted Red) on the scrape again this morning. The three Duck species all self-isolating on Wrafton Pond, where the Cob Swan seems to have finally chased off all last year's cygnets. A flight of 7 Swans over the reserve (one juvenile) but wasn't sure if it was the juv Whooper.... In the reserve pairs of Blue and Great Tits prospecting the nest-boxes, and even putting some nest material in place. A Moorhen on Wrafton Pond was also collecting reeds for a nest. A Collared Dove was singing in the reserve, and a 1st calendar year Blackbird was also singing by Wrafton Pond - well perhaps more of a monotonous sub-song would be a better description. The rain, and a Kestrel probably kept the bird count very low.
