Velator area

Another cold and frosty morning. Ice on all the ponds including in the reserve for the first time this winter. Shoveler, Wigeon and Gadwall still on Wrafton Pond Redshank on the scrape. Loads of Finches in the reserve many of which, along with a very noisy Blackbird were mobbing in some ivy-clad trees. Careful scrutiny revealed a Tawny Owl. Cetti's Warbler therefore replaces Tawny Owl on the year list of birds heard but not seen - yet! Smart Dipper in the river nearby.
