As I pottered along the tarka trail this evening to see if there were any hirundines over the pond I saw the Spoonbill fly in (7.30p.m.) and immediately start feeding in one of the ponds in the field! I was hoping for an interesting Wagtail but the rapid fly-through of a male Sparrowhawk put all the small birds up and I could only find one Pied Wagtail. The Green Sandpiper was still present. About a dozen Sand Martins and a few Swallows over the pond with several of each over by the reserve trees. Also on the pond the three Pochard and three Gadwall still.
